Weapons

Attacking an elemental creature with a normal weapon or a non-elemental dino will cause feedback to the attacker.  The feedback varies depending on the victim creature.  Several weapons are available in elemental forms to prevent this.  Check your elemental smithy to craft them and prevent your unprepared, unfortunate demise.

  • Crossbow and compound arrows

    • One for each element

  • Swords

    • One for each element.  Equip these on omni-elemental mantises to change their elemental affinity.

  • Sabers

    • One for each element and one for all elements.

    • Use plasma to fuel the elemental variants and omni-elemental crystals to power the omni variant.

  • Machined pistol

    • Use elemental essence as ammo (just drag it onto the item like you would with bullets).

  • Machined assault rifle

    • Use elemental essence as ammo

  • Machined sniper rifle

    • Use elemental essence as ammo

  • Catalyst grenades

    • Fire grenades cause a fire/nature catalyst effect

    • Air grenades cause an air/lightning catalyst effect

    • Ice grenades cause a water/ice catalyst effect

  • Bolas

    • Special bola ammo can be crafted for the rifle and rocket launcher.  These allow for more precise aiming at the cost of reload time.

  • Rockets

    • Air rockets (and airball rockets) cause a very high impulse explosion.

    • Fire rockets (and fireball rockets) cause a very high damage explosion.

    • Ice rockets cause a high damage ice explosion.  Iceball rockets freeze nearby creatures.

    • Lightning rockets cause a high damage lightning explosion.  Lightningball rockets stun nearby creatures.

    • Nature rockets cause a high torpor explosion.  Natureball rockets leave a cloud of noxious sleeping gas behind.

    • Stone rockets cause a high damage stone explosion.  Stoneball rockets are akin to a canon ball.  Both cause high raid torpor.

    • Water rockets cause a high damage water explosion.

    • Rocket bolas can be used to launch chain bolas.

  • Tranqulizing poison trap

    • Should a creature trigger this trap, they will be assaulted with a noxious sleeping poison.  This could be an effective taming aid.

  • Tranquilizing spear

    • Much like a basic spear, but coated in tranquilizing poison.

  • Utility gun

    • This gun is easily made with minimal materials.  It has 3 modes.  The modes can be cycled using the aim key binding (default right click).

      • Force land: Have a flyer that just won't quit flying?  Shoot them with "Force Land."  It will usually cause them to land fairly quickly, but you may have to go Scarface on them.

      • Neverstuck: Tired of your creatures being blocked by such medial things as boulders and trees?  Shoot a creature with neverstuck mode, tell them to follow something, and they'll plow right through any destructible resource (no resource gathering).  The effect lasts 15 minutes.

      • Knockback: Stuck under a dino?  Have your dinos formed a dino-doggy pile?  Just want to fling a T-Rex across the yard as if it were a balloon?  Use Knockback mode to send a single creature sprawling.

  • Rail gun

    • The Tek Railgun has been adapted to use hybrid elemental rails as ammunition.

      • Fen rails deal very high torpor damage.

      • Glacial rails deal very high raid torpor damage.

      • Storm rails deal very high damage and their victims become vulnerable to further attack.

      • Vapor rails deal very high damage and their victims become blinded - reducing the amount of damage they can deal.

  • Elemental siphon

    • Gradually drain elemental essence from wild creatures.

  • Elemental gem (and greater gem)

    • Use luminescent essence to fill the gem with elemental bias.  Then use this as a weapon to damage nearby creatures or provide elemental benefits to nearby allies.

    • The greater gem uses catalyst shards, but the effect is much stronger.

  • Elemental sickle, pick axe, and hatchet

    • Use these to collect essence from resources spread throughout the ark.

      • Sickle can be used on plants to retrieve nature, air, and water essence.

      • Pick axe and hatchet can be used on trees, stone, metal, and obsidian nodes to retrieve stone, lightning, ice, and fire essence.
